SA2000 Premium Complex Carbide Overlay Plate

SA2000® is a specially formulated alloy with a refined microstructure of high concentrations of small primary carbides, which greatly improves wear resistance over conventional chromium carbide alloys.

Refined, Dense, Microstructure with smaller carbides

Benefits of this refined microstructure containing harder complex carbides:

  • Greater wear resistance and improved toughness by reducing spacing between carbides.
  • Higher impact resistance due to the high density of smaller carbides.
  • Inert refractory carbides present increase the temperature and corrosion resistance.
  • Reduced carry back and material sticking.

SA2000 improves the service life in applications suchas bins and hoppers, deflector screens, excavator buckets, truck dump trays and chute liners. Up to double the service life over chromium carbide overlay plate.

2X the Service Life


SA2000® Premium Complex Carbide Overlay Plate was installed in the impact areas within a coal load chute. This 3500 TPH chute transports an 70/30 blend of Powder River Basin and Eastern Bituminous coal (50/45 HGI). The previous chromium carbide overlay plate used in these areas was lasting between 3 to 6 months.

The SA2000 liners were inspected after 9 months of service. They show little to no signs of wear (see image to the left).

The SA2000 liners will easily last up to1.5 to 2 times the service life of the previous chromium carbide overlay material.
